在三學數量決定的前二個原因敘述完後,有一句話「此二即是本地分說」。
Lhundub Sopa格西的解釋中說:「 These first two ways of establishing the number of training as three are taught in Asanga's Level of Yoga Deeds.」(第2冊第392頁第22行)
從這裡可以看出來,「此二」是指之前提到確定三學數量的兩個理由,也就是「觀待調心次第數決定」和「觀待得果數決定」。

「離地水火風日月」(第193頁第12行)
宗喀巴大師在提到修何道而斷除生死時,引用了親友書的偈子:「或頭或衣忽然火,...,離地水火風日月。」偈子的最後一句是什麼意思?
Lhundub Sopa格西的解釋中說:「 Once you attain that state it is "inexhaustible"—it remain forever. It is not a state that is produced out of the material elements of earth, water, fire, and wind. Some people worship the sun or the moon, but nivana is not such a place.」(第2冊第390頁第13行)
法王在2000年講解親友書時,對這個地方的解釋也是相同的。法王說:「這個果位(涅槃)不是地水火風,因為有些外道認為要到某某地方才算真正解脫,其實解脫並不是一個地水火風所形成的地方,有些外道甚至皈依日月,日月也是不值得皈依的,所以說『離地水火風日月』。」
所以在這裡,「離地水火風日月」似乎並不是指得涅槃果位之後,不再為世間有為相困擾。

「文父真養子」(第193頁第3行)
大師提出應以出家身,粗劣衣缽乞活知足,於遠離處淨自煩惱,為他供處。並引用了經論和祖師的法語,其中有伽喀巴(若依發音應該是翻譯成伽喀瓦)云:「若能以大仙行,住苦行山間,始為文父真養子。」
這句話在Lhundub Sopa格西的注釋中翻譯成:「If it happens that someone is living in an austere mountain valley, practicing like a sage, then truly that child was well bred by his father.」(第2冊第384頁第34行)而Snow Lion出版的英譯本廣論譯作:「If there is someone living as a sage in the Valley of Ascetics, then the father has fundamentally raised his child well.」(第1冊第338頁第25行)句子中並沒有提到佛陀–原譯文「文父」容易讓人產生文佛的聯想,依Lhundub Sopa格西的解釋,這裏的父是指上師,而「真養子」(well breded child)則是「...one who come to master all the skills and good qualities of character that his father has to teach.」
所以,祖師伽喀瓦的這句話,大意應該是:「如果能夠以隱士的作風,住在簡樸的山間,才算是得師善教之子。」這句話的原文是:
