在為修報恩做結論時,宗喀巴大引了集學論中「煩惱狂癡盲,...」的偈頌,然後有一段說明,中文本翻譯成:「此說如是觀已,不應於他尋求過失,見一功德應覺希有,然此亦合苦惱之理。」
在SnawLion的英文版中翻譯成:"Although it is said that it is improper to look for other's faults and that it is wonderful to notice even a single virtue, here it is appropriate to consider how others are happyless."(第2冊第42頁第3行)
所以這裡宗喀巴大師是在說明雖然集學論的這一偈,原本是用來說明不應觀察他人過失,即使只見他人一個功德,也應覺得稀有。但是,用來思惟如母有情陷煩惱所使的痛苦狀態也是可以的。似乎並不是在說明是否觀察他人過失,或是有沒有符合四諦的道理。
Lhundub Sopa格西的注釋則是 "This stanza is usually quoted to show how everyone is equal because we are all in this pitiful suffering situation. However it is also appropriate to conclude the discussion of the first three points of the sevenfold cause-and-effect personal instruction."(第3冊第84頁第34行)
